The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, also known as IIM Calcutta or IIM-C, is India's best public business school. It is in Kolkata, West Bengal. In the country, it was the first Indian Institute of Management to open. IIM Calcutta is an important part of India's business school system. It was founded in 1961 with help from MIT's Alfred P. Sloan School of Management, the Government of West Bengal, The Ford Foundation, and Indian business.

The university is known for its amazing placement drive that offers top-notch and world calss facilities to the students. Many companies and recruiters participate in the placement drive. As per the data released by IIM Calcutta, the University offers highest internship package of 2.5 LPA and the mean internship of package of 1.5 LPA. The internship is done for 6 months period.
This is done by an interview and selection process and then an internship of 6 months, followed by final placement by top companies. There are three main hostels at IIM Calcutta. They are called Old Hostel, New Hostel, and White Hostel. The Old Hostel is for both men and women, while the New Hostel and the White Hostel are only for men. Two years at IIM Calcutta costs INR 1.8 Lakhs for the dorm. The IIM Calcutta dorms have all the modern comforts, such as internet access, air conditioning, well-furnished rooms, large balconies, and more. People who go to IIM Calcutta can also use shared rooms and game rooms.
