IIM Shillong, or the Indian school of Management, is a public, self-governing school that opened in 2008. It is a very important institute in India and is known as an Institute of National Importance. The NIRF Rankings 2023 say that IIM Shillong is ranked 26th in the world for management.
The foundation stone for IIM Shillong was put by Arjun Singh, who was the Union Minister of Human Resource Development at the time, on December 1, 2007. The college started out in the Mayurbhanj Complex, which used to be the summer home of the Mayurbhanj Kings of Odisha. The Meghalaya government later fixed it up and used it as a school. They let in their first group of kids on July 4, 2008. The new 120-acre site where IIM Shillong is located is a great place to study because it is surrounded by nature and has state-of-the-art facilities like an executive block, classes, a library, and different offices for each programme.
IIM Shillong has many programmes, one of which is a two-year, fully residential Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM). The PGPM includes required courses and electives in areas like general management, operations, marketing, IT, HR, finance, and economics. The course work focuses on being environmentally friendly and includes special classes about the Northeast. The school also has a Doctoral Programme (PhD) in management, Management Development Programmes (MDPs), an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) programme called Post Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPEx), and other specialised programmes.
At IIM Shillong, school life is very busy, with students taking part in many clubs and groups that run daily operations and plan events. The school has a 100% placement record and students come from all over the country. Top marketers take part in the placement drive to make sure that both men and women are represented equally. For the school year 2021-23, the best pay recorded was Rs 71.30 LPA, and the average income was Rs 26.96 LPA.

The process of admission to the IIM Shillong is based on the scores of the CAT, MAT, or GMAT exams and personal interviews (Pls). For the batch of 2023-2025 MBA, the CAT cutoff is 75% for general and EWS students and 50% for ST and DA category students.
