It is the eleventh IIM to be built in India. The Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIM Trichy) opened on January 4, 2011. It is on a huge site that covers 175 acres and is located on the Trichy-Pudukkottai highway, 11 km away from Tiruchirappalli International Airport. IIM Trichy is known for having modern facilities, such as fully air-conditioned SMART classrooms with high-tech audiovisual equipment like HD document cameras/visualizers, interactive tablets, DSP mixers, centralised monitoring and control systems, ceiling microphones, ultra-short throw interactive projectors, full HD projectors, and HD cameras to record interactions between teachers and students.

1. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) from a recognized university.
CAT Examination: Candidates must appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).

2. CAT Registration

Candidates need to register and apply for CAT.
During the CAT application, candidates must select IIM Trichy as one of their preferences.

3. CAT Score

Shortlisting of candidates is based on their CAT score.
IIM Trichy sets a minimum percentile cut-off for each section and the overall score.

4. Shortlisting for Personal Appearance (PA)

Based on CAT scores, candidates are shortlisted for the next stage, which includes a Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT).

5. Personal Appearance (PA)

Written Ability Test (WAT): Candidates are required to write an essay on a given topic to assess their written communication skills.

6. Final Selection

The final selection is based on a composite score, which includes the following components:

Hostels at IIM Trichy are divided into 6 student housing complexes, each with 3 floors. There are 18 rooms per level which are distributed uniformly and connected through functional lifts. Moreover, there are special rooms built for differently abled students with attached bathrooms on the ground floor.
