About Us
The Tmt. Kannammal Educational Trust, established in 1985, has been dedicated to fostering change and progress through education. The trust initiated the Thai Moogambigai Polytechnic College in its first three years. In 1988, Dr. M.G.R. Engineering College was founded, and in 1991, the Thai Moogambigai Dental College was established.
A significant milestone was achieved in 2003 when both colleges were granted Deemed University status. This transformation occurred following the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, and the Union Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India, New Delhi. The elevation to Deemed University status marked a recognition of the institutions' commitment to educational excellence and research.

The examination pattern followed by the Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute Online programs is the most commonly opted pattern which has two major components: internal assessments and end-term examination.
The internal assessments are conducted to evaluate the practical understanding of the subject by an individual through different academic activities and assignments they are assigned at the beginning of every semester, whereas end-term examinations are conducted at the end of every semester to evaluate the overall theoretical understanding of a student.
The Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute assists its students in securing a good job through their dedicated placement and training cell. The university has partnered with some of the major multinational companies, which have become the major recruiters of the university.
