The Madhya Pradesh Bhoj (Open) University (MPBOU) is a well-known state school in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is known for focusing on higher education through open and online learning. The university was founded in 1991 by the Madhya Pradesh University Act of 1991. It was named after the famous Indian king Raja Bhoj. It was officially opened on October 1, 1992, and President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma was there for the event on October 19, 1992.
MPBOU's goal is to provide more educational chances in areas that don't have enough of them. To do this, it uses the Open and Distance Learning System to encourage learning among all kinds of people. The university's tagline, "Embrace, Engage, Enlighten, and Empower," shows that it wants to use information and communication technology (ICT) to make education better and more accessible. The Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the University Grants Commission (UGC), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), and the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) all recognise MPBOU as a top educational institution. It has more than 600 study centres spread out across the state and 11 regional centres.
The university's goals are in line with India's New Education Policy 2020 (NEP-2020), which focuses on innovation, global welfare, fairness, and raising the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) by making education more available. NEP 2020 wants to change higher education by using a diverse method, putting more emphasis on local languages, and investing more in facilities and people. MPBOU is ready to make a big difference in reaching these goals, especially by making education more available through its online and ODL programmes.
