The University of Kalyani was founded in 1960 and is in Kalyani, West Bengal, India. This public research university has many bachelor, graduate, and doctoral programmes in many different fields. It has a long past. At first, it had faculties of Arts, Science, Education, and Agriculture. Later, the Faculty of Agriculture split off and became its own organisation, which was called the Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya. The university's location is in a country area and covers more than 378 acres. This makes it a great place to bring higher education to rural areas.
There are 37 departments at Kalyani University, which are organised into six school boards. These are Interdisciplinary Studies, Arts & Commerce, Education, Music & Fine Arts, and Science. This wide range of schools includes Math, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science & Engineering, Business Administration, Bengali, English, and even more cutting edge fields like Data Science and Nanoscience & Nanotechnology.
The university puts a lot of effort into study and development. In addition, it is an important leader for the 57 colleges and other recognised schools that are associated with it. It's hard to get into Kalyani University. For some programmes, like engineering, you have to do well on entrance tests like JEE Main or WBJEE. For advanced programmes like M.Tech and MBA, you have to do well on GATE, CAT, MAT, CMAT, or JEMAT. Kalyani University has been praised for its services to higher education. It was named #258 in the Asian University Rankings for Southern Asia by QS and in the top 150–300 universities in the country by NIRF.
