It is situated in Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, India, and is called the Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya (MGCGV). This is India's first rural university, which was started in 1991 by the innovative leader Nanaji Deshmukh. Its main goal is to help rural areas grow economically and socially. It was the university's mission to create human resources, spread rural technology, and promote socioeconomic growth in rural areas. The school is in the country and covers 190 acres. According to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), it got a "A" in its first run of accreditation in 2015. This shows that it is dedicated to providing high-quality higher education.
From the undergraduate level up to the doctoral level, MGCGV has sixteen departments and five schools that offer a wide choice of courses from different fields. These include Arts and Culture, Business Management and Rural Development, Science and the Environment, Engineering and Technology, and Science and the Nature. The latter includes topics like Civil Engineering and Information Technology, as well as Crop Sciences and Natural Resource Management. Our school system is designed to meet the various learning needs of children and working adults who want to help rural areas grow.
Through its Distance Education Centres and Community College system, the university also promotes learning in non-traditional ways and skilled growth. The goal of these programmes is to give people the real skills and information they need in their own communities and regions through advanced diploma, diploma, and certificate programmes in a wide range of subjects. In order to successfully apply academic policies and support skill education in line with the National Skill Development Council's rules, MGCGV's method combines top-down and bottom-up approaches into one.
An engineering workshop, a yoga centre recognised by the UGC, sports centres, health and music training centres, and an assembly hall for talks and events are just a few of the facilities that make MGCGV's campus life lively and all-around great. For a well-rounded education, the university also has a placement cell, transportation, and a cafeteria.
"The village is the universe in miniature" is written on the MGCGV symbol, which shows that the university is dedicated to rural development and the improvement of rural areas through education, skill improvements, and new technology.
