About Us
The University of Mysore, established on July 27, 1916, holds a significant place in India's academic history. As the sixth oldest university in the country, it proudly stands as the first university in the state of Karnataka. Notably, it is also the first university to be established outside the confines of British India.
The university owes its existence to the visionary Maharaja of the erstwhile Princely State of Mysore, His Highness Sri Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar – IV (1884-1940), and the forward-thinking Diwan Sir M. Visvesvaraya (1860-1962). Their concerted efforts led to the founding of this institution.
In 2000, the University of Mysore achieved the distinction of being the first university to be accredited by NAAC with a Five Star Status. It continues to uphold its academic excellence and is currently ranked 19th in the India Rankings 2021 by NIRF-MHRD, Government of India.
The University is situated in Mysuru, the cultural heart of Karnataka. Historically the capital of the Wadiyar dynasty, Mysore is renowned for its opulent palaces, ancient temples, and lush gardens. The city stands as a remarkable tourist destination, adorned with historical monuments and distinctive architecture. Mysore is particularly famed for its silk industry, the production of sandalwood oil, and the creation of artefacts crafted from ivory and sandalwood.
Blessed with a salubrious climate year-round, Mysore is located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Bengaluru, the state capital. The city is well-connected by rail, road, and air, providing convenient access for visitors and residents alike.

The internal examination includes case-study, and practical-based tests, and external examinations include theory exams. All the assessment tests are conducted in the online mode.
